The highly anticipated re-opening of the Western Grandstand at WIN Stadium will come when the Westfield Matildas take on the New Zealand Football Ferns on June 27.
The international match is part of the Illawarra Academy of Sport’s ‘Women in Sport Luncheon’, which will also be held at the Stadium.
IAS’s General Manager Carolyn Dews says the luncheon be a chance for the community to see the new developments at the stadium, and will bring sporting fans together.
“The event is to encourage both business and community people to come along to a sporting event because there’s a Matildas game,” Ms Dews said.
“It’s a social event so there’ll be opportunities for networking, and it’s also to see what facilities are available at WIN stadium.”
It will also provide the Matildas with the chance to show their skills to the community.
“It’s a good opportunity for them to play in a venue that they haven’t previously played in. There should be a crowd there for that event, and it’s also a good opportunity for the Matilda’s to showcase their skills in Wollongong,” she said.
