The Gillard government may have won the battle but the war is far from over. In a bid to secure the $10.6 billion mining company tax cuts, Gillard has rallied an offensive against her opponent’s. Yesterday’s victory in the Senate saw the proposed tax, passed by 38 to 32 votes.  However, this battle seems far from over.

Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest of Fortescue Metals Group has vowed to challenge the mining tax in the High Court. Having announced his mining ore company FMG is indeed committed to fighting the battle against the tax with potential to severely diminish mining companies profits. Mr Forest has confirmed his consultation with his council in preparation for FMG’s strike. Unfortunately for Gillard, there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel just yet.
