Former Macarthur MP and current ultra-marathon runner, Pat Farmer, spoke to students at Shellharbour TAFE today about inspiration and mental toughness. After recently completing a gruelling year-long run from the North to the South pole, he has turned to motivational speaking.

“Pat was a real inspiration and a bit of a role model (for me) after today,” said 18-year-old fitness student Liam Vuik.

“I felt encouraged to knuckle down in my studies, not just my sport.”

Farmer’s pole-to-pole run lasted a total of 10 months and in his efforts raised close to $100 000 for Red Cross International.
